We were looking to grow our footprint in Scotland, and Glasgow in particular, and British Land were able to offer a great opportunity. The asset manager was very enthusiastic about our brand and really pushed to find the right space for us. Glasgow Fort offers the right brand and occupier mix, access to the right customers, it’s easy to shop and customers feel safe.

Working with British Land, we’re creating a new cultural hub at Ealing, including a live music and digital arts venue and the area’s first multi screen cinema in 15 years. We’ve had around 50 meetings with local organisations which has helped to shape our programme, transforming an old nightclub into a community destination, reinvigorating this part of the high street.

100 Liverpool Street stood out for us because the design was exceptional. The floor plates enabled us to consolidate our businesses onto a single level which was a priority and it gave us a real identity, because we’re one of only a few companies in the building. Plus, Broadgate is a vibrant hub with strong environmental credentials and that has real value for our people. British Land demonstrated a real willingness to accommodate us at every step, and we’ve been thrilled with the result.

British Land made compelling case for Fort Kinnaird: they used data to demonstrate the clear alignment between our target market and their catchment and showed how highly customers ranked the centre in key areas like store mix and F&B. We’re also working with them at 100 Liverpool Street where together, we’re creating an exceptional shopping destination built around our target customer.

In over 20 years working in cinemas, I have never known or seen landlord support on this level before. With British Land’s help we were able to spend much less on marketing the Plymouth opening, without compromising the calibre of the applicants. We hired local people, so our cinema is a real part of the community and that’s reflected in the number of people visiting, which has surpassed expectations

We appreciate the interest and respect British Land have for what we do. They have a long term vision and we’re part of that, it’s like we’ve been brought into the subsoil and it’s wonderful to be part of the conversation around how this place comes together.

We opened our first centre at one of British Land’s shopping centres in 2014, when there was a much more limited leisure offering in shopping centres. But British Land were very forward thinking, they saw the way retail was evolving and it was a great success for both of us. We’ve since opened two more with British Land. Meadowhall has high footfall, a strong catchment, an excellent occupier line up and a wide range of facilities, so it was an ideal destination for us, and the support we received from British Land both pre and post opening has been fantastic.
